Developing Scotland’s Next Generation of Cyclists
The Edinburgh RC Youth Race Team is one of Scotland’s leading youth cycling development programmes, supporting riders aged 12–16 across road, track, mountain bike and cyclocross.
Part of Edinburgh Road Club since its creation over 15 years ago, the team provides a structured pathway from grassroots racing through to national and international competition. Riders develop technical skills, race craft and physical performance while learning the values of teamwork, resilience and enjoyment of sport.
The programme has helped develop riders who have progressed to the very highest level of cycling, demonstrating that a pathway from Scottish youth racing to global competition is achievable.
Our Approach
We focus on:
Multi-discipline development before specialisation
Technical skill development and race craft
Athlete wellbeing and long-term progression
Creating a positive team environment for young riders
Riders compete across British, Scottish and local race calendars, with selected opportunities for older riders to experience international racing.
