New Member Survey

The club has a healthy membership, particularly in Youth. But like other clubs (this was discussed @ SC AGM) our adult membership is ageing (a bit), so we are particularly keen to recruit & retain riders in the 18-40 age category.

To help understand how folk come to us, and what their experiences are, we ran a short survey for folk who've joined in last year or so, and we got 10 responses.

Interestingly of the 10 who joined, most (6) were re-joining after a gap, 2 folk came via recommendations from friends/family, 1 on an internet search and 1 from social media.

Folk seem happy with communications, but some suggestions for improvements, and some good ideas to try and recruit new members in the target age-group.

In terms of suggestions to increase we got suggestions on:

* providing rides for 'most talented younger athletes' ( quoting an example where the hills ride was too slow for a new rider)

* marketing to schools & universities

* even more marketing on insta (a few reels)

* 'bring a friend' initiative

* target Hyrox/cross-training communities to supplement existing training

* a consistent womens-only ride to help introduce more women to group riding & allowing them to progress to mixed rides

Folk were generally happy with sessions (rides, swims, runs) we put on; commenting on their friendly and welcoming nature. A couple of suggestions were:

* having a clearer timetable available on Insta

* occasional trips a bit further afield (eg perthshire / stirlingshire) for variety

If you've a good idea; and even better some time to help make that idea happen, drop me a email to president@edinburghrc.co.uk
