ERC Youth Race Team Update

A strong month to close out the summer, with racing across track, road, gravel and mountain bike.

Track

The British Youth Track Cycling Championships were the highlight of the month. Micah came away with three silver medals in the sprint, keirin and team sprint, plus 4th in the 500m TT and three personal bests, and was added to the Madison start list ten minutes before it began. Izzy took 4th in the Madison, missing the podium in the final sprint, and 5th in the points race after another close finish.

Road

Sarah wrapped up the Richard Moore Youth Race Series as Youth A Female Overall Champion and Primes Series winner, with Eilidh 2nd in the final round and primes winner on the night. Aarna and Eilidh finished 5th overall in the series, Tymek 6th, Dara 8th, Alex 11th, Blake and Danny 12th and JJ 13th.

At the Scottish National Youth Crit Championships in Ellon, Izzy was 2nd and Sarah 3rd, with Blake 8th in U16 and Dara, Alex and Danny 11th, 14th and 15th in U14. Izzy also finished 4th in a sprint finish at the final round of the British Youth Circuit Series in Wyke.

Dara won the Youth age group at the Scottish Road Bike Time Trial Championships. Danny took first youth and a 10 mile PB at the Fife Midweek TT in a howling gale, with Danny, Sarah and Eilidh all riding well at the Linlithgow coach-led TT.

Mountain Bike and Gravel

Eilidh took silver at the Lloyds British Gravel National Championships in Ae, with Dara 7th and Alex 9th. At round 2 of the Doon Tha Brae series in Tarland, Ruaridh finished 6th in U13 and Oscar 18th in U18, in fields of nearly 70 per category and 400 entered overall. Oscar was 6th in U16 at the Glentress Mini DH with Ruaridh 11th, in a youth downhill field of 120 riders.

2027 Squad

Applications closed on 31 August. All applications now go to the Youth Race Team Committee, with successful applicants notified by 30 September.
