Dinner and Awards

It was a great night, one Friday in November at the Grassmarket Community Project.
The evening kicked off with younger club members getting some time to listen to and ask questions of Sean Flynn and Lauren Dickson. It's amazing to think that not that long ago (to some of us at least!) Sean was one of those youngsters.
It was after that that the adults entered the room.
The night opened with moving tributes to Neal and Arnott. Two wonderful gentlemen, for whom more will be written for next months newsletter.
Jarlath led an interview with Sean and Lauren, along with some questions from the audience.
Sean gave some great insight to what it's like riding at the sharp end of Le Tour. Meanwhile Lauren gave us some sense of the step up in intensity of racing as you approach the top tier.
There was definitely some shower envy from Lauren, but I think that's been made up somewhat with her recent delivery of some new bikes.
The raffle raised £560.61 for Cardiac Risk in the Young, with many people leaving the evening with jerseys, kit, bidons and the like.
The formal part of the evening closed with the prize giving awards, before everyone went home to be tucked up in bed for an early night.
Many thanks to Rick, Jaralth, Alan and everyone else who helped make the night fantastic. (Did someone mention Sonya's cake?) And a special thanks to Sean and Lauren for being so giving of their time back to the club.
