ERC has been accepted as one of 13 clubs in Scottish Cycling's club progression programme. The main focus of the programme is to support clubs in implementing a philosophy, structure and activities that facilitate the development of their riders to be the best that they can be.

SC believe that by adopting an approach that delivers Cycling For All and/or Cycle Sport, clubs will find the inspiration, energy and direction to create and fulfil their ambitions.

Over the next year or two, ERC expect to be supported by SC's Club Development Team and achieve the following.

• Continue membership growth across all categories
• Understand and fulfil the needs of our membership
• Achieve increased volunteering to support our activities

ERC had three participants in the kick-off video meeting in early July where participating clubs introduced themselves and heard more about the scheme. One of the next steps will be video calls on member-selected 'Hot Topics'.

Club President, Phil Darby, said, "Our participation in this initiative will give benefits across the club especially but not exclusively for our youth section. We hope to benchmark ourselves against other clubs but also contribute by sharing our experiences, for example by the appointment of a women's officer and the LikeaLassie sessions aimed at developing teenage girls' cycling. I hope that members will continue to support us in achieving our aims."
