ERC Midweek TT Series Week 5 - Muggy

5 June 2019

After heavy rain throughout the day the riders were eventually greeted with the gentlest of gentle easterly breezes, moist tarmac and muggy, humid conditions. The kind of sticky weather where you need to have brought have a tub of talcum powder to be able to slip, sorry squeeze, into your skinsuit (or is that just me?).

Only 11 racers tonight and scanning Instagram earlier I know it could have been 12 if some people weren't put off by the weather *cough* Louis *cough*

Insert comment about Alan Dean posting the fastest time here -------------> he did a 21:33 guys.

Steve Canney came in second with 22:50 closely followed by David 'the TT starts at 7:01 so I'll arrive at 6:59' Lewendon with 23:14.

Rae Captieux was the fastest woman of the night, also helped by being the only woman of the night but we'll gloss over that. The recent Scottish 25 bronze medallist posted a time of 25:01 but this week no mis-matched Velotoze which was both a surprise and strangely off-putting, I began to doubt the reality I thought I knew.

Without Louis to challenge him, Neil Bell was the fastest man aboard a road bike with a time of 24:30.

Big shout out too to 14 year old Elijah Kwon who was the second fastest road biker of the evening with a very respectable 25:51.

Thanks again to volunteers Morag Lamont, Eddie Glover and me – I can thank myself surely can’t I?!

The volunteer rota is looking rather sparse these next few weeks so please please please stick your name down otherwise we can’t put the race on!

See you all next week!
