Edinburgh Road Club has recently made financial donations to two charities. These were surpluses of earlier races and comprised of officials’ and volunteers’ expenses, forgiven prizes and individual donations.

As Ukrainians were fleeing conflict in their own country British people throughout the length and breadth of the country were offering support. This was in terms of accommodation, toys, basic needs or cash. The coming together of the race made it an opportunity to show how we as a community could help. The final total donated to the DEC appeal was £1,405

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY, https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/) has been a long standing cause supported by ERC. CRY’s vision is to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families. Former club member Ben Forsyth was diagnosed with a heart irregularity but later died of this condition. £941 has been raised to support screening sessions for athletes in Scotland which are arranged by Ben's parents Keith and Margaret.

These follow the donation of bikes and other kit to Bikes for Refugees charity (full story here). As ever ERC thanks our sponsors (Field & Lawn, The Bicycle Works and Goodson Associates), members and supporters for their ongoing backing.
