ERC makes a significant contribution to cycle sport by promoting nine popular open races and a club time trial series.

You can enter ERC events online via British Cycling and Cycling Time Trials.
Club Time Trial Series
May - September 2024
The club TT series is a popular introduction to racing for many club members. Individual riders pit themselves against the clock over 10 miles in a mid-week evening series that runs from May to August. The club TT series is run under CTT regulations on the Saltire 10 (Tranent) time trial course.

Gifford Road Races
Sat 16th March 2024 Part of Series: Alba Series Two races. 3/4 cat Regional B race over 66km in the morning, E123 National B over 120m in the afternoon.
ERC Ben Forsyth CRY Youth Race Day

Closed circuit races for youth riders at Fife Cycle Park, Lochgelly, in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young. YC, YD & YE have 3 races (1km TT, street-sprint & Crit). YA & YB have 45 min crit races. U16 boys race for the Ben Forsyth Memorial trophy. This is followed by coaching for TTT and a race-specific session.
Tour of the Meldons

A classic early season hilly time trial, following a scenic 25-mile loop over the Meldons hills near Peebles. Categories include Men, Women & Vets, Juniors, Paracyclists and Road bikes.
This year The Meldons is the fourth in the six-event Merlin Cycles Classic Series, and the CTT Scottish District Olympic Time Trial Championship.

Eastern Promise Road Race and Pippa Handley Road Race
Sun 16th June 2024 Two races held over a challenging circuit based on Howgate, Leadburn and Gladhouse, southeast of Edinburgh.
Pippa Handley
The third round of Scottish Cycling's Scotia Women's Road Race Series. Held in memory of the late club member.
A 52-mile race for women riders over a challenging circuit based on Howgate, Leadburn and Gladhouse, southeast of Edinburgh.
Eastern Promise
A Regional B road race for 3rd and 4th category riders. This race includes the prize of the magical "Eastern Promise Lamp" for the highest-placed Edinburgh RC member.
Lothian Flyer Road Races

Open A Regional B event for 3rd & 4th Cat Juniors, Seniors & Vets only, Women and novice Road racers, over 49 miles on the Stobo circuit.
This race is held in commemoration of Archie Craig, "The Lothian Flyer", who was a prolific competitor during cycling's pre-war heyday.
Female For 2024, there will be a separate race for category 2/3/4 women, also over 49 miles.
Glen Kinchie Team Time Trial

ERC's annual 2-up Team Time Trial over 23 miles (2 laps of an 11.5-mile course) around East Lothian, encircling its famous distillery namesake. Find a partner and join the fun.
Youth Cyclo-Cross

A day of races for all youth categories and women, around the grassy slopes of an Edinburgh Park. Usually, a fine day to start the Scottish CX season.
Club Hill Climb Championship

ERC's hill climb is open to riders from other clubs. The course is up the iconic climb of Arthur's Seat on a closed road in full view of the Scottish Parliament.
Ian McCulloch TT
A 10-mile time trial named in memory of former club member Ian McCulloch, which is held on the Saltire 10 course, Tranent. This is an ERC club competition run in conjunction with the final event of the ERC Midweek Time Trial Series.
