EXCITING, FUN AND SAFE RACING FOR EVERYONE

As part of our centenary celebrations ERC Triathlon is proud to bring you our Centenary Duathlon. We have created a totally off-road duathlon within easy reach of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

We are committed to inclusivity and we offer a full range of distances for younger athletes, as well as separate races for Female and Open athletes.

Whether you’re a regular participant, or looking to join your first ever race, you’ve come to the right place. Cyclists or runners looking to take a first step into the world of multi-sport racing are particularly welcome.

If you are unsure about doing the full race, why not find a friend and take part as a relay team?

    CATEGORIES AVAILABLE

Competitors can choose from the following categories:

    • Adult individual
    • Two person relay team (adults only). One competitor completes both run legs, the other completes the bike
    • Tristar and Youth distances based on age

** GREAT BRITAIN AGE GROUP TEAM ELIGIBLE QUALIFIER! **

Ever dreamt of pulling on GB kit and representing your country? The opportunity might be closer than you think...

We are delighted to announce that the ERC Centenary Duathlon is an eligible qualifying event for the World and European Cross Duathlon Championships in 2026 and 2027.

To be eligible to qualify you must be either a Core or Ultimate Home Nations member and be a British Citizen. You must also race the Centenary Duathlon on a mountain bike. More details about the qualifying process can be found on the British Triathlon website.

    LOCATION

The event will take place at Meadowmill Sports Centre in East Lothian (EH33 1LZ), approximately 12 miles east of Edinburgh.

Meadowmill Sports Centre is easily accessible by car with free onsite parking. Please consider lift sharing with other competitors and spectators whenever possible. *If the main car park is full, please do not park on the access road as this will make is very hard for other people, especially emergency vehicles, to access the facility.

Alternatively, there are trains to the nearby Prestonpans station from Edinburgh Waverley, with a footpath linking the station to the race venue

    COURSES

The course is located entirely within the grounds of the sports centre next to the Battle of Prestonpans monument. The race is 100% offroad.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of bike do I need?

You can ride any type of off-road bike: gravel, mountain or cyclocross. Hybrid bikes with grippy tyres would also be appropriate. The course is not suitable for road bikes or time trial bikes. E-bikes are not allowed.

What is the bike course like?

The bike leg is 100% off road. We have designed a cyclocross-style course that winds its way around the playing fields at Meadowmill. It is totally on grass and has been designed to be suitable for all riders from experts to novices. You will complete multiple laps of the course depending on your age group.

How technical is the bike course?

The course has been designed to retain the feel of a cyclocross track whilst being suitable for riders of all skill levels. There are a number of short ramps and some tight corners, but nothing that will require you to get off your bike and carry it. There will be no hurdles.

How will I know that I have done the correct number of laps of the bike course?

You will need to keep a count of the laps you have completed. We are not able to count your laps for you.
