Events and Races

ERC runs several popular cycling and multi discipline events every year that are open to all entrants, both inside and outside the club. These are suitable for a wide range of ages and experience, from new starts to experienced veterans.
2026 Senior and Junior Road Races - enter through the British Cycling website (in due course). Dates are currently provisionally.
- Gifford Road Races - Saturday 28 March 2026. Including the
first rounds of the Scottish Cycling Alba and Scotia Series, together an additional race for
newer riders. More details can be found here.
- Tour of Gladhouse Road Races - Sunday 26 July 2026. These are held over an undulating circuit southeast of Edinburgh. Incorporating the Pippa Handley Women's Road Race, in the memory of one of ERC's racing stars who was tragically lost in 2018. This is a round of the Scottish Cycling Scotia Women's series. The event includes the Eastern Promise open race, which is a good starting point for new racers. More details can be found here.
- Lothian Flyer Road Race - Sunday 30 August. In memory of the original Lothian Flyer - Archie Craig and based on the short and hilly Stobo
circuit South West of Peebles - route on Strava. This event is aimed at those relatively new to road racing. Entry is via British Cycling website.
Juniors, Women and Vets are welcome to enter the open event.
Time Trials and Hillclimbs - enter through the Cycling Time Trial website.
- Tour of the Meldons Time Trial (for road and TT bikes) - Sunday 7 June 2026 - In 2026 this will constitue the CTT National Road Bike Championships, as well as having a race for TT machines! A classic early season hilly time trial, following a scenic 23-mile loop over the Meldons hills near Peebles. More details will follow soon. https://www.strava.com/routes/...
- Lang Whang Time Trial (for road and TT bikes) - Sunday 2 August 2026 - The return of a well-loved classic c30 mile hilly TT route...the Lang Whang (aka A70 Lanark Road) from the Kirknewton turnoff to the lovely new roundabout just before Carnwath...and back. It's lumpy, bumpy and frequently windy, but a fantastic course to ride. Last run pre-Covid by West Lothian Clarion, ERC are taking up the baton for 2026! https://www.strava.com/routes/...
- Edinburgh Time Trial Series (for road and TT bikes) - Wednesday evenings from May 2026. Our midweek series of time trials for road bikes and TT machines, using 3 courses near Gladsmuir, East Lothian. No need to be a member. See ERC Midweek Time Trial Series Facebook page for more information.
- Arthur's Seat Hillclimb - tbc Sunday late September or early October. ERC's hillclimb is open to riders from other clubs. The course is up the iconic climb of Arthur's Seat on a closed road in full view of the Scottish Parliament. Enter via the Cycling Time Trial website.
Triathlon and Duathlon
- The Centenary Duathlon is being held at Meadowmill Sport Centre, East Lothian on Sunday 3rd May 2026. The race includes a full range of distances for younger athletes, as well as separate races for Female and Open athletes. There is also the opportunity to race as part of a team in the relay event. Youth Races
Circuit race - enter through the British Cycling website
- Ben Forsyth CRY Race Day - Sunday 22 March 2026. Held at Fife Cycle Park, Lochgelly in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young. Youth C, D & E (U12, U10 & U8 take part in a 3-stage race). Under 16 boys race for the Ben Forsyth Memorial trophy.
Dirt Crit - enter the 2026 Dirt Crit
- ERC Go-Ride Dirt Crit - Saturday 25 April 2026. Davidson's Mains Park. A dirt crit is a cross-country mountain bike race for young riders aged 6 to 16. This is an entry-level events for younger and new riders.
Mountainbiking - enter through the British Cycling website
- Edinburgh Schools Mountainbike Championship - Wed 10 June 2026. Held at Harmeny School Balerno. This gives an easy introduction to mtb racing and preparation for the Scottish Schools mtb championship held in September.
Cyclocross - enter through the British Cycling website
- Inch Park Cyclocross - September (date tbc). A day of races for all youth categories and women, around the grassy slopes of an Edinburgh Park. Usually a fine day to start the Scottish cyclocross season.
